Green Team students at Scotch College, Adelaide, South Australia donated over $460 to Save the Gouldian Fund. This was raised at their “Green Day” where they collect litter in local parks and a creek and donate a gold coin.
The school has an aviary with Gouldian finches, and so students wanted to take conservation of this species to the next level. Dr Gary Fitt presented an overview to the students via Zoom on the factors that are affecting Gouldian finch numbers in the wild and the value of building, installing, and monitoring Gouldian finch nest boxes.
Thanks to the team and also their teacher, David Pace, of Shirtember fame.
