Wild – Research Centre

Most of work on wild Gouldian finches is undertaken from our main base in the eastern Kimberley of Western Australia. This small town of Wyndham – which is the Kimberley’s oldest town, Western Australia’s northern-most town, and Australia’s hottest town (with the highest year round average temperature!). This is one of the best places to see wild Gouldian finches. Our base is the Wyndham Conservation Research Centre, which was formerly the old Wyndham Town Hall, but is now a newly renovated facility that contains accommodation for all our field workers.

However, we also spend a lot of time away from our home base, working in a number of other (often remote) areas in the northern tropics, including the Northern Territory and Queensland.
